DANIEL KAYLOR MERRITT ISLAND Daniel E. Kaylor, 79, passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at Wuesthoff Hospital, with his wife and family at his side. Daniel was born May 13, 1927 in Appalachia, VA, Wise County, to Overt and Ruth Kaylor. He was in the aircraft and airways communication squad eight years serving as an Air Traffic Controller during the Berlin Airlift. He was awarded the Soldiers Medal at Westover Air Force Base in Massachusetts for an act of Heroism on July 26, 1948. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech where he studied engineering, and made Aerospace his career. He retired in 1992 after receiving several personal and team awards for participation in the Gemini Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs. He was an Eagle Scout. Mr. Kaylor is survived by his wife, Florence B. Kaylor; daughter, Stephanie Allan; two step- daughters; granddaughter, Dominique Allan and five step- grandchildren. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be made to the Veterans Memorial or the Apollo Memorial. Wylie Baxley Funeral Home in Merritt Island is in charge of arrangements.
