Oct. 24, 1925 - May 16, 2007: John Ellerson Favor, 81, is at peace, having passed away Wednesday.

There will be a memorial service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Latham United Methodist Church in Huntsville with Dr. Hughey Reynolds officiating and at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Montgomery. Laughlin Service Funeral Home is assisting the family.

John was born in Lowndes County. He began a military career during World War II serving in Germany. Upon completion of Officers Training School in 1948, he married Nannie L. Favor of Titus, his wife of 58 years. Together they traveled and raised three children. He retired from the Air Force with the rank of major while serving in the space program. Continuing in the space program, he worked with IBM at the Kennedy Space Center.

John lived a life of faith; teaching, singing and serving in the role of layman for many years in the United Methodist Church. He was awarded the honor of Fellow of the Society of John Wesley.

Survivors include his sons, Ron Favor and wife, Beth, and Garry Favor and wife, Becky; daughter, Gloria Favor; and grandchildren, Jason, Matthew and Kendall.
