James Jim Harris, 70, left for better sailing on Wednesday March 14, 2007, at Holmes Region al Medical Center.

Jim moved to Florida in 1960 and came to Brevard in 1980. He was a planner/scheduler at Kennedy Space Center and retired several times, most recently in 2004 from Ron Jon Surf Shop in Cocoa Beach.

He is survived by Julie Sutherland, his loving companion and soul mate of 25 years; his brothers, Bill (June) of Rockledge and John of Orlando; sister, Jackie (Julian) Moorefield of Arizona; his daughters, Shirley and Jamie; twin sons, David and Danny, all out state. Also left behind are his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Jim loved sailing, woodworking, knot tying and spending time with family and friends. He will be truly missed for his sense of humor, love of life and kindness.

A Celebration of Life will be held dockside aboard the Indian River Queen located on the south side of Lee Wenner Park in Cocoa Village. Calling hours will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 26th, with a memorial service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Health First Foundation at Cape Canaveral Hospital or the American Lung Association of Florida.
