Lorraine Mardas, 85, longtime resident of Satellite Beach, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 5, 2007. Lorraine was born on July 7, 1921 in Reading, PA to Milton and Edna Mardas. One of the five Mardas Sisters, Lorraine is predeceased by her sisters, Chris Mackey and Martha Reilly and survived by Olga Brannon of Satellite Beach, FL and Mary Bellis of Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by Sarah, Melida, and Tulio Daniel Febres- Cordero, her grandchildren of the heart, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews, great-grand nieces, and great-grand nephews.

Known as Thea to many, Lorraine was a part of several extended families and she was always well known for her Greek pastry delicacies. She lived in Pennsylvania, Washington DC, and New Jersey prior to moving to Florida in 1959 and most recently she was living with her care-giver niece, Maureen McGrath. Lorraine worked in the aero space industry for over 30 years and retired from Johnson Controls in 1986.

During this time, she was able to travel the world and visit her familys homeland in Mytilini, Greece. She also had a great faith in God and was one of the founding members of St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church in Brevard County. At St. Katherines she was the first president of the Philoptochos, taught Sunday school for the church youth, and served on the church parish council.

A viewing will be held at the West Chapel of Beach Funeral Home, 4999 North Wickham Rd, Tuesday, May 8, 2007 from 2-4 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 9th at St. Katherine Greek Or thodox Church, followed by a graveside service at Florida Memorial Gardens in Rockledge.
