MARGARET TULLGRENMERRITT ISLAND Margaret Tommie Tullgren, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, April 29, 2007 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Greensboro, NC, she grew up in Miami, FL, lived in New York City in her early adult years, returned to Miami, married and eventually moved to Merritt Island in 1966, where she was employed at KSC by Trans World Airways then Boeing, eventually retiring from Lockheed Space Operations in 1992 . Everyone knows that even in adversity she still had such a positive outlook on life and lived it to the fullest. She enjoyed doing such a variety of things. While at college, archery, horse back riding, teaching swimming and canoeing. Becoming a Girl Scout leader, square dancing, attending operas, theatre, museums, playing family games, but most of all traveling. Her love of travel started while a stewardess with Pan American Airways from 1946 to 1952. Most trips were to Brazil, but her most memorable was being one of two attendants to President Truman on his press plane to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands in 1948. After retiring her real dream came true when she went to Europe, Alaska, Ireland, Branson and the Midwest. During that same time she also volunteered at the Brevard Museum and met many new friends. They started traveling together on many day away motor coach trips, going to lunch every week and attending seasonal theater at the Surfside Playhouse. ,p.She will be missed by her daughter Alice (Mark) Meyer; granddaughter, Sheryl Johns; sister, Billie K. Burr; nieces, Sherry Haire and Kathie Burr; nephew, Robert Burr Jr.; one great niece and several great nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Tullgren. Calling hours will be held Sat urday, May 5, 2007 from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. with funeral services following at Brevard Memo rial Funeral Home in Cocoa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Foundation, 1430 S. Pine St., Melbourne, FL 32901.
