WHITNEY BARTLETT, TITUSVILLEWhitney Whit Bartlett, 72, died Sunday, January 13, 2008 at his home in Titusville, FL. He was born in Manhattan, New York, the son of Dr. Charles and Sylvia Bartlett of Kew Gardens, NY. He grew up in the upstate village of Castile, NY where he graduated from Letchworth Central High School in 1954. He was an active member of the Boy Scouts while in Castile and proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, Whit served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He attended Syracuse University and graduated with a degree in aeronautical engineering, subsequently working for RCA missile tracking in Puerto Rico. He began his life-long career with NASA in Titusville, FL with the Apollo program in the early 1960s. He retired from NASA in 2000 as Senior Orbiter Project Engineer following over 30 years of service. At an early age he fell in love with music and in particular the guitar. He was an accomplished and talented jazz guitarist and close confidant of jazz guitarist Tal Farlow. He had a great love for animals especially his dogs. He enjoyed his retire ment in Titusville, kept loyal company by his canine companion Smiley He is survived by his son, Eric Tal and his wife Juli Bartlett of Sanford, FL; brothers William Bartlett (Diane) of Sarasota, FL and Ted Bartlett (Barbara) of Cazenovia, NY; nieces and nephews, Addie, Charlie, Shelley and Whitney. Services will be held at 4 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2008 at North Brevard Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to North Brevard SPCA.
