BRANNIGAN, JOHN HANSELL of Apopka, Florida passed away Monday, March 24th at the Hospice of the Comforter. He was attended by family and friends at the time of his passing. Born in Xenia, OH, in 1942 he spent most of his early years along with a brother and sister in the Ohio Soldiers and Sailors Orphan Home. Here he established many close friendships which continued until his death. At seventeen, he enlisted in the navy and served four years ending up on an aircraft carrier during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Married to Diana (Dee-Dee) Louise Henn in 1973, John went to work with TWA where he continued for over twenty years including a five-year stint at the Space Center. He moved to Orlando and then came out of retirement to take a job with Orlando Parking Enforcement - a job that he threw himself into with all the diligence he could muster...and then some. As enthusiastic an enforcer as he was, he was also known to step into a downtown restaurant to warn a couple that their time was "almost up". John had a flamboyant, outgoing, enthusiastic personality. When he entered a room, you knew he was there, ready to play and ready to go at the drop of a hat. He was a person who could stand out in a crowd of eccentrics. His happiest moments were spent out in nature, on the St. John's, observing the flora and fauna: "look - an alligator - there's a green heron!" His friends all looked forward to his nature cruises through Florida's backwaters. John was survived by: his loving wife Dee-Dee, a finger print technician with the Orlando Police Department; his daughter Colleen Louise of Coconut Creek; his brother Kenny Kipp of Xenia; his sister EvaLou Race of Columbus, OH; and his sister Karen Salchli of the Republic of Panama. |
