ROBERT EHRHARDT, Jr., COCOA
Robert E. Ehrhardt Jr., age 81, died at home in Cocoa, FL on Sunday, June 1, 2008, after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Bob, as he was called by his family and friends, was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on April 15, 1927 to Robert E. and Florence M. Ehrhardt Sr. He was raised in Southbury, CT and met his future bride, Elizabeth (Betty) Smith, during his teen years. Bob served proudly as a soldier in the U.S. Army, graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1950, and married Betty in 1951. Together they enjoyed a 38 year journey with IBM, developing a full appreciation for the "Ive Been Moved" moniker of that company.

Some of Bobs most enjoyable years were spent working as IBMs Engineering Manager and then Facility Manager at Kennedy Space Center in support of the Apollo space program. In these roles, many people benefited from Bobs selflessness and commitment to excellence.

In his retirement years, Bob spent countless volunteer hours teaching reading in Kindergarten classes at Golfview Elementary School. In addition, he shared the gift of reading with many middle aged adults through the Adult Literacy program at the Cocoa Public Library. Bob thoroughly enjoyed his many hobbies including snow skiing, racquetball, jogging, and flying model airplanes with the Spaceport RC Club.

Bob is survived by Betty, his devoted wife of 57 years; his brother Ernie; and his sons (and their wives) Mark (Leigh), Rob (Jeannie), Dave (Lisa) and Paul (Deb). He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie, and will be remembered as a dedicated grandpa by his nine grand- children. Bob showed unwave ing dedication to his entire family and he will be greatly missed! A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 4th, at 10 a.m., at Brevard Memorial Park in Frontenac. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Brevard Hospice or to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (www.multiplemyeloma.org).
