JOE HOLDEN, MONTICELLO, FL Joe Alexander Holden, age 87, a retired Fuel Technician died Friday , October 17, 2008 in Tallahassee, Florida. He was born August 26, 1921, in Arcadia, FL, graduated from high school there. During his life, he worked as an electrician, taught airplane mechanics in Arcadia, FL as well working with Pratt-Whitney as a airplane mechanic. When they lived in Titusville FL, he worked for the Boeing Company at the Cape Kennedy Space Center where he was a fuel technician on the space program, especially the fuels that were used in the moon missions. While still employed with Boeing, they moved to the Midwestern states where he was involved with security of the United States on the Minuteman Project which involved the housing of guided missiles. Upon his retirement form Boeing in 1980, he moved to Monticello, Florida. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, and throughout his life time he served as deacon for 50 years and a Sunday School Director. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Bishop Holden of Bishop Woods; one son, Rev. Eddie Holden (Joan) of Aucilla, FL; granddaughters, Laura and Dorothy (Missy) Holden; and one half sister, Wilma Beane (husband Jim) of Tallahassee, FL. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Holden Wilcox (Kevin) and two grandsons, Daniel and Joe Dee Wilcox. A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday October 21, 2008 at Central Baptist Church Monticello, Florida. Family received friends on Monday October 20, 2008 at Beggs Funeral Homes Monticello, Florida. Interment will follow at Bishop Cemetery Aucilla, Florida.
