HUNZIKER, KARL L., Lehigh Acres, FL.

Karl was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served in the Navy, beginning at Guadacanal and progressing to the Phillipines. He retired from Brevard County Sheriffs department in 1991.

He worked for the Orlando Sentinel as assistant sports editor, fishing columnist, city editor, and finally, as Cocoa bureau chief. he covered the first missiles and satellites launched at Cape Canaveral, FL.

He is survived by son, John Kent Hunziker, Gainesville, FL; sister, Clara Belle Baker, Montverde, FL; brother, John Harold Hunziker, Sr., Lake City, FL; assorted nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, 4-18-08 from 10-11AM at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home with services following at 11AM.
