RUTH B. McALLISTER, COCOA BEACH

Ruth B. McAllister, 85, our loving Mother and Matriarch was called home to her heavenly father on Saturday, January the 12th, 2008. She passed peacefully in her home as she slept.

Born in Bayonne, NJ, she came to Cocoa Beach in September of 1956. Ruth and her husband, Walter, settled in the area to raise their family and work in the space program after he retired from the Navy after 20 years of service.

Ruth was an extremely dedicated parishioner at the Church of Our Saviour in Cocoa Beach. She was active in the Churchs earliest years when Mass was held in an old store front and continued her dedication to its present location for the rest of her life. She was a staple at the Our Saviours Catholic school during its infancy and continued her volunteering long after, even driving the first school bus for many years.

As many of the early pioneers to the Space Coast, she worked for Grumman Aerospace on the Apollo Program. Before retiring, she was also employed by Florida Solar Energy for 12 years

. Ruth will be greatly missed by all of those she has left behind she touched many lives with her faith and kindness.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Walter, who passed away on the 11th of January, 12 years ago and a daughter, Sharon.

She is survived by her children, Judith, Walter and Michael (Sarah); five grandchil dren and one great grandchild, her younger siblings, Joan Shelton of Patrick Shores, FL, Steven Baran of Vero Beach, FL and Marie Beck of Glendora, CA.

Visitation will be from 5:30 till 7:30 p.m. (TODAY) at Beck man-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 15th at Church of Our Saviour. Donations may be made to Our Saviours Catholic School, 5301 N.
