ROY McCOWAN, CAPE CANAVERAL

Roy W. McCowan, 78, a retired structural engineer died Monday, May 26, 2008, at Wuesthoff Hospital. Roy was born in Carlisle, Kentucky. He came to Brevard County in 1963 from Anchorage, Alaska with his wife Joyce.

Roy was a NASA structural engineer at Kennedy Space Center for 35 years and served in the Army 101st Airborne Divsion during the Korean War.

Roy is survived by daughters Stacey McCowan-Batchelder of New Smyrna Beach, and Christie Laffey of Cocoa and two grandsons Jacob and Joshua.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Roy was a doting father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
