ROBBINS, JOHN (DERRY),

passed away December 30, 2008. He was born May 11, 1934 in St. Clair County, Alabama. A lifelong resident of Central Florida, Derry graduated from Edgewater High School and attended Florida State University on a football scholarship.

He was a 35 year employee of TWA where he was based at the Kennedy Space Center as a member of the crew for the Apollo program and the original seven astronauts.

He coached little league and pop Warner football in the Titusville area. After retiring from TWA, he and his wife, Carroll moved to Oviedo then to the Villages for 10 years. They both returned to Oviedo where they lived for the past four years.

Derry is survived by his wife, Carroll of 49 years, two sons, J.D. Robbins of Oviedo; Scott Robbins of San Jose CA; four grandchildren, Jason, Jessie and Rachel Robbins of Oviedo, FL and Logan Robbins of San Jose, CA; sister, Judy Pinson and Janet Bailey of Alabama; brothers Col. Richard Robbins of Texas, Bryan Robbins of CA, Joel Hunter of FL; several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Baldwin Fairchild Oviedo at 2PM.
