STEWART, JR., DONALD KENT "D.K." , 74, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away at home on Sept. 16 in the arms of his beloved wife, Betsy and surrounded by family. He was born Aug. 10, 1934 in Ballston Spa, NY where his prior four generations resided. His father was the founder of Stewart's Ice Cream in upstate New York. He was a graduate of Ballston Spa High School and attended Daytona Beach Community College. He worked for Pan Am and Johnson Controls at Cape Canaveral for over 40 years and had lived in New Smyrna Beach for the past 47 years where he was active in Boy Scouts, Southeast Volusia Athletic Association and Coronado United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Transportation Workers Union (TWU) Local #525 and the Refrigeration Services Engineering Society. He served as an Army medic in New York and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards with family, traveling and attending family reunions in North Carolina and New York. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betsy"; five sons, Donald (Cheryl); Jimmy (Sue); Bob (Mary Anne); George (Virginia) and Charlie (Sherri); 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren. He will forever live in our hearts! Memorial service for family and friends will be 2PM Saturday, Sept. 27 at the First United Methodist Church, 310 Douglas St., New Smyrna Beach.
