![]() Charles K. Allen, Mims Charles Kindrick Allen, 83, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2009. He was born July 9, 1925 and grew up in Tallahassee, FL. "C.K." joined the Navy in 1942 and served during World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. Upon retirement from the service he worked for Bendix Co. on Apollo space projects at Cape Canaveral. Mr. Allen was a past Master and District 26 Instructor of Gateway Masonic Lodge #384 F & AM of Mims, FL. He was also a member of York Rite and Scottish Rite bodies. He was an active member of the Shrine Temple and a founder of AZAN Shrine Club and also a Tall Cedar. C.K. Allen was a Florida pioneer, descending from Council B. Allen who settled in Leon County prior to Florida becoming a state. He was predeceased by his wife, Grace Estelle Allen, parents, Wesley C. Allen and Alice S. Johnson and sister, Zelma Allen Schaffer. He is survived by his son, Julian Burnsed; brother, Jack E. Allen, Sr. (Roselle), both of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Ada Poole and Jean Cranwill of Satellite Beach, FL and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at the Gateway Masonic Temple, 2995 Temple Lane, Mims, FL at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 4th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shrine Burn Center, Gainesville FL or St. Judes Childrens Hospital, Memphis, TN. |
