Marvin L. Hainsey - Titusville

Marvin L. Hainsey, 79, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2009 while he was at home after having been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Marvin was born on his family farm in Pennsylvania on June 23, 1929 and was one of seven children.

He moved to Florida in 1965 to work as part of Americas space program. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Catherine; his daughter, Mary Kathleen Lucci of Poland, OH; sons, Michael of Columbus, MS, Dennis of Corrales, NM, Donald of Titusville; and seven grandchildren.

Marvin grew up on a farm outside Shawville, PA. He left school after the 10th grade to work full time on the farm, in coal mines, in lumber camps as well as other jobs. He joined the United States Air Force in the early 1950s where he served his country as a jet aircraft mechanic. He also was awarded his GED certificate while in the service. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in September of 1956 having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Marvins professional career spanned over three decades, all of which was in the aerospace industry in Ohio and at the Kennedy Space Center. He began this journey as a mechanic and rose through the ranks to his final position of Rockwell International Personnel Manager at KSC. He retired from Rockwell in 1986 after 30 years at the company. He also started up and ran D & M Gun World in Titusville for over 20 years.

Marvin was active in his familys life, working for several years as a coach and in league management positions in Mims Little League. After his retirement, he spent countless hours putting his carpentry and home repair skills to use in helping people. His generosity, and outgoing personality will be remembered by many people throughout the area.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, June 10th from 5-7 p.m. at the North Brevard Funeral Home, followed by a reception at his house.

Services for Marvin will be at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Thursday, June 11th at 10 a.m. His family requests that donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Chris Hainsey Memorial Scholarship Fund at the University of Alabama or to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
