JOSEPH LOHMAN COCOA BEACH

Joseph Clemens Lohman, 82, died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at his Cocoa Beach home. Born December 21, 1926, in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Joe graduated from Penn State University in 1949.

He joined the Glen L. Martin Company in 1951 and worked on the Matador/Mase Programs. He was instrumental in the development of a new guidance system and field support of the missile. The missile was deployed in Germany. He also worked on the Vanguard Guidance and Control support of Launch Operations. Before his retirement in 1981, Joe was the Chief Engineer for Launch Operations of the Titan III.

Joe was a charter member of 40 years with the Cocoa Beach Elks Lodge No. 2387. Joe is survived by his wife of 47 years, Renee; three step-sons and one step- daughter, Gary, Norman, Eugene and Linda Louder milk; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Joes greatest gift was his love and devotion to his wife during her lengthy illness. He was a gentle man who enjoyed fishing, sailing and working on his home.

A visitation will be held Friday, January 9, 2009 from 5 until 7 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at 11a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach.
