![]() DONALD R. LUSK, Sr. - Merritt Island Don Lusk passed away Friday, May 22, 2009 while visiting his favorite place in the world, his home in the North Georgia Mountains. Don was born July 24, 1931 in Matewan, WV. and resided the past 54 years in Merritt Island. Don served in the US Air Force, was a Korean War Veteran and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and then from EG&G where he worked on a number of projects at Kennedy Space Center. He attended Marshall University and was a graduate of Nova University. He was known as "Daddy-Don" to his family, friends and the many people he mentored during his lifetime. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Iris. Don is survived by his four children, Linda Lusk, Donald Jr., "Jake" (Jennifer) Lusk, Ken Lusk (Vanessa) of Merritt Island and Jayne Lusk (Michael) of Atlanta, GA. Don has four grandchildren, Adam (Cheyenne), Anna, Michaela and Elijah Lusk and one great-grandchild, Maddison Lusk, all of Merritt Island. Don is also survived by his brother, Frank (Shirley) Lusk of Little Stannard Beach, CT and his brother and sister in law, Pat and Barbara Starnes of Bonaire, GA. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great friends including John Stevens, Kym Grant, Marilyn and Billy Cheek, and Gayle Corcoran. Viewing is scheduled for Friday, May 29th, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home on Merritt Island. A Celebration of his Life is planned for Saturday, May 30th at 11 a.m., at Calvary Chapel on North Merritt Island. In lieu of flowers and to honor the passion Don had for education, memorial donations should be made to the Iris S. and Donald R.
