Hugh J. OKeefe, Merritt Island

Hugh J. OKeefe, 49, of Merritt Island, passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at Cape Canaveral Hospital.

Hugh had been an employee of Kennedy Space Center for the past 20 years and the proud recipient of the Silver Snoopy Award and the Space Flight Awareness Award.

He was an avid fisherman, a great husband and father. Hugh was a hard worker and would always lend a hand to help others.

He is survived by his wife, Regina; daughter, Erin; son, John Henry; sisters, Kerry and Rory; and a brother, Danny.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday May 7, 2009 at Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 8, 2009 at Church of Our Saviours Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach.
