Edward Pingston, Sr. Merritt Island

Edward L. Pingston Sr. died Sunday, March 15, 2009, after a long illness. He was born June 28, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan.

He graduated from Tennessee Tech with a degree in electrical engineering, and began his career with Western Electric. In 1964 he came to Florida to work for General Electric on the Apollo Program at the Kennedy Space Center. Ed worked for General Electric in Daytona Beach until his retirement in 1996.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rae D. Pingston; five children, Cpt (Ret USA) Edward L. Pingston Jr. (Laura), Gina Duncan, Laura L. Pingston, David C. Pingston (Lisa), and Carrie P. Hensley (Tony); as well as nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 21st, at Rockledge United Methodist Church on Fisk Blvd. at 11:00 a.m.
