William Sims, Merritt Island

William "Cay" Sims, 76, died Friday, June 12, 2009 at Cape Canaveral Hospital. He was born in Red Level, AL and came to Brevard County in 1966 from Birmingham, AL.

He worked at the Kennedy Space Center as an Illustrator and retired after 33 years of service. He was know for his numerous art designs for the Space Program. He was also an author/editor and a veteran of the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Pat; sons, Terry and Stacy; grandsons, Peter (deceased), Richard, Carson and Collin Sims; sister, Mary Bray (Oregon); brother-in-law, Bob Buffington; sisters-in-law, Aline Powell and Marie Sorenson.

Viewing will be Monday, June 15th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Florida Memorial Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 16th at 2 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Florida Memorial Gardens. Florida Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
