Carl K. Howell - Jacksonville, Fl

Carl K. Howell, 92, a retired finance manager for the Boeing Company, passed away on September 26, 2009.

He was born and raised in Waynesfield, Ohio and lived most of his adult life in Brevard County, Fl. He moved to Jacksonville in 2004. He graduated from Miami University (Ohio) where he was a member of the basketball team and the Sigma Chi Fraternity.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European theatre in the Normandy invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He reached the rank of Major in the field artillery. He retired from the Boeing Company as the finance manager for the aerospace operations of Boeing at Cape Canaveral.

He was married for 63 years to his loving wife, Lucille Mullen Howell. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a charter member and past president of the Lions Club, Arcadia, Ohio and a member of the Satellite Beach Lions Club. He was an instructor in the graduate school of the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne.

Carl is survived by his loving wife, Lou, sons Ken (Chris) and Jay of Jacksonville, nieces and nephews and grandchildren Courtney and Rebecca.

A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, 9800 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, Fl., on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m., His family will receive friends before the service, from 10am to 11am at the Holy Family Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, 4266 Sunbeam Rd., Jacksonville, Florida 32257. Arrangements are by Hardage-Giddens Chapel Hills Funeral Home, 850 St. Johns Bluff Rd. North.
