George C. Kinser, Jr. Titusville

George C. Kinser, Jr., 86, retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, died Tuesday, September 8, 2009, at his home in Titusville, FL.

George was born in Myrtle, VA on June 19, 1923 of a U.S. Navy family. His father (George) was a Chief Petty Officer and his mother (Miriam) was a Yeomanette. George joined the Army Air Corps in 1942 and was then transferred to Germany where he served with the European Occupation Army before being transferred to Rhein-Main airport where he flew in the Berlin Airlift for 13 months. George also flew B-29s during the Korean War. Lt. Col. Kinser was Professor of Aerospace Studies at Boston University when he retired in September, 1969 after serving 27 years, during which he was awarded two Air Medals, the Air Force and Army Commendation Medals, and the National Defense Service Medal.

George then worked as a Kennedy Space Center Tour guide in Titusville for 34 years.

George is survived by his loving wife, Imogene; sons, George Ivan and Robert Lee. His daughter, Patricia Kinser is deceased, as is his previous wife, Marie. Stepsons Kevin M. Davis, John E. Bulla, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive him.

Donations may be made to Hospice of St. Francis. Viewing will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, Cocoa. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa Catholic Church on Friday, September 11, 2009 at____, followed by burial at Brevard Memorial Park.
