![]() FRED L. MARQUIS was born on July 6, 1942 in Granite City, Illinois and died peacefully in Houston, July 11, 2009. Fred is survived by his wife Ann, sons Philip and Patrick, step son, Bob Kent and wife, Sally, brothers-in-law, Paul Marks and wife Helen, Mike Ray and wife Lorraine and step grandchildren Alan and Robert Kent. Fred's devotion, care and love for Anna was boundless and will be dearly missed by her and all the family. Fred received an undergraduate degree and MBA from Southern Illinois University and served in the Peace Corps in Ethiopia before beginning his career in contract administration and management. Most of his working years were spent with Brown & Root, later to become KBR. His contract service with B & R began at Cape Canaveral AFB, Florida where he was responsible for launch tower construction and facilities management. In 1992 Fred and Anna returned to Houston where he became Contract Administrator supporting numerous Government contracts awarded to Brown & Root, most in support of our U. S. Forces. In addition to working in Florida and Houston, Fred traveled widely in executing his responsibilities to operations in Africa, the Middle East, Germany, Greece, Italy and the Balkan States. Fred was admired and respected by fellow worker and clients alike and will be sorely missed by all. His peers said "he was always truthful, candid and did the right thing." At Fred's request there will be a private memorial conducted by the family.
