Bobby D. Nelson, Titusville

Homegoing services for Bobby D. Nelson will be held Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Park Avenue Baptist Church in Titusville. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Bob passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, December 3, 2009. He was born on June 29, 1933 in Collinswood, TN.

He earned a degree in electrical engineering at UT Knoxville. While there Bob met his wife-to-be. He and Mildred were married on August 27, 1957. They lived in Huntsville, AL while Bob worked for ABMA, and then moved to Titusville in 1965.

They were part of the many families who moved to Florida in support of NASAs space exploration missions. Bob worked for NASA at Kennedy Space Center until his retirement in 1995.

During retirement Bob and Mildred enjoyed serving in their church, Park Avenue Baptist Church, and traveling. Favorite destinations were the NC mountains, England, and to visit their grandsons. Bob was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be greatly missed until we are reunited in heaven.

Bob is survived by his wife, Mildred; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Drew Kelly; grandsons, Rob and Kevin Kelly; sister-in-law, Betty Nelson. He was predeceased by his son, Mark Nelson, his parents, Lloyd and Walsie Nelson, and his brother, Billy Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of St. Francis or Park Avenue Baptist Church.
