Theodore D. Seidler - Indian Harbour Beach

Theodore Davis Seidler, born 31 October 1924 in Rockville, MD, died Thursday, 03 September 2009.

He was in the US Army Air Corps, enlisted in 1942 and discharged from Active Service 12 Nov 1948. He attended University of MD. His career in the Space Industry spanned the early 1950s until his retirement from USBI at Cape Kennedy in 1989. His service in the Space Industry began with Douglass (sic) Aircraft Company where he was responsible for identifying and setting up the NIKE Missele Sites in Italy, Turkey, and Germany in the early and mid 1950s. Ted, along with his wife, Lydia, moved to California to continue work with the NIKE program. Ted then moved to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL in 1959 to begin work with the Chyrsyler Space Division in the Saturn and Jupiter Program. Ted was responsible for static testing of the S-1/ S-1B missile at Redstone as well as working in the Jupiter program.

Ted then moved to Cape Kennedy, FL with Chrysler to begin work in the Apollo program where he was recognized for his dedicated service to the First International Cooperative Manned Space Flight, the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project. While at KSC, Ted was also involved in the Space Shuttle Program, where he worked in Configuration Management and in Operations. Ted was ultimately recognized with the prestigious Silver Snoopy Award in 1987 for his outstanding leadership and dedication for activating the Assembly Refurbishment Facility where he was the Director of Operations.

Ted is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lydia Seidler; four sons, David, Jay, Mark, and Mike; three step-daughters, Sybilla, Victoria, and Ulli; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation from 10 -11 a.m., Sunday, September 6th at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, where services begin at 11 a.m. Entombment to follow.
