Robert Shuemaker, Melbourne

CMSGT Robert "Bob" Shue maker USAF (Retired), 71, died Wednesday, July 22, 2009. He was born in Waterloo, Iowa and came to Brevard County in 1990 from Lompoc, CA.

He was a veteran of 26 years in the USAF and retired as a Command Master Sgt. Later he worked as an Engineer for Lockheed-Martin at Vandenberg AFB and Cape Canaveral, FL.

He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Melbourne where he was a past Deacon. A volunteer for the American Cancer Society and then received the ACS State Courage Award for two years and recently received the first Bob Shuemaker Road to Recovery Volunteer Award for the State of Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; daugh ters, Carole Cushing and Dorretta (Jim) Bradshaw; grandchildren, Angelica, Vanessa, Heather, Madison, Will, Billy, Christopher and Joey; sister, Martha (Dick) Wheeler.

Calling hours will be Sunday, July 26th from 5 - 7 p.m. at Brownlie-Maxwell Chapel. Funeral service will be held Monday, July 27th at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.
