STIRES, DAVID E., 74,

lost his courageous battle with cancer on July 7th, 2009.

He worked 40 years in the aerospace industry, retiring from Lockheed Martin in 1993. Of particular pride was his contribution to the Space Shuttle program, in assisting in the design of the Manipulator Arm.

Survivors include: Wife of 53 years, Joyce A. Stires; son, Jon E. Stires and love, Diane, of Oviedo; daughter, Sheri Stires-Martin and husband, Brad Martin of New Smyrna Beach; three beautiful grandchildren, Courtney Martin of Lakeland, Kyle Martin and Shannon Stires of New Smyrna Beach; brother, Chuck E. Stires and wife, Connie P. Stires, of NC; three nieces and nephews and eleven great nieces and nephews.
