![]() Ann F. Sutherland, Cape Canaveral, FL Ann F. Sutherland, 88, died at Hospice of Brevard on Thursday, September 3, 2009. She was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and came to Brevard County in 1964. Ann attended nursing School at Kings County Hospital in NY before joining the Army Nurse Corps. During WWII she served as a Captain in the U.S. Army, and tended the wounded Soldiers in North Africa, Casablanca, Tunisia, and Italy. After WWII, Ann was dually enrolled at the University of North Carolina and Duke University, where she earned her B.S. in Public Health Nursing. She then went on to obtain her Masters Degree from Columbia University. Ann was in the US Air Force Reserve, and worked in the VA Hospital as a consultant for the Air Force Reserve Center in Japan, the Phillipines, Okinowa, and Guam. She traveled the world with the Red Cross and after 22 years of service with Pan Am and EG&G, retired as the Nursing Supervisor at Kennedy Space Center, being awarded Occupational RN of the Year for the state of Florida. Ann is survived by her three sons, Ronald, Michael, and Scott, and her granddaughters, Ashley, Lindsay and Sydney. Services are private. |
