Gene Coleman, Melbourne Beach

Gene Coleman went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. He was born January 1, 1937 in Waycross, Georgia to Oren and Corrith Coleman.

He moved to FL in the 50s and worked for Pan Am at Cape Canaveral during the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo projects. Gene proudly served in the U.S. Army as a missile firing specialist. He lived in Knoxville, TN working at Oak Ridge in the nuclear enrichment program. He also was a business owner until retiring and returning to FL in 2002.

Gene loved baseball and coached youth leagues for many years. He was a licensed amateur radio operatorfor over 30 years.

Gene is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carol Drew Coleman; sons, Dwayne and Christopher, both of Knoxville, TN; grandsons, Shane and Nicholas of Toano, VA; brothers, and sisters, Wayne (Pat) of Warm Springs, GA, Bill, Elaine, Gail (Terry) Jacobs of Hoboken, GA, Bob of Waycross, GA, and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be scheduled for family and friends at a later time.
