William Guertin, Merritt Island

William Joseph (Bill) Guertin, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Cape Canaveral Hospital. Bill was born June 30, 1924 in Oswego, NY to Alice and Adolphus Guertin. The oldest of five children, he was the brother of Jim, Rete, Doretta and Jack.

Bill graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and for 25 years, 13 of them over seas, served his country working as an Intelligence Officer for the Central Intelligence Agency.

After retiring, Bill moved to Merritt Island in 1976 and worked at Kennedy Space Center. For 13 years, as division manager, Bill led the design and implementation of KSC's communication and security systems. Bill was a man of warmth, strength, integrity, and love who will be missed by all he knew and touched throughout his life.

Bill is survived by Pari, his wife of 30 years; sons, Michel, Patrick, Timothy, Sean and Sam; daughter Mary Helene; twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2009 at Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Merritt Is land. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Our Saviors Catholic Church Memorial Garden in Cocoa Beach.
