GOEBEL MELBOURNE Carl Joseph Goebel, 88, of Melbourne, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2004, at Indian River Center. Born April 13, 1916 in Wilkes- Barre, Pa., he was the son of the late George Rudolph and Emma Goebel. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he was part of the D-Day Invasion and served in Andennes, Central Europe, Normandy, Northern France and Rhineland. He received the American Defense Service Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He had the Combat Infantry Badge. He was a retired construction supervisor for the Pan American, Aerospace Services Division, where he worked for 24 years. He was a member of Ascension Catholic Church. Carl is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty J.; daughters, Marie Anne Goebel Jones of Fayetteville, Ga., and Betty Jane Goebel of West Melbourne; and grandchildren, Michael Jeffery Jones of Fayetteville and Brian James Priest of West Melbourne. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, at Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home, Melbourne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 4676 N. Wickham Road, Mel bourne, FL 32935 or to the American Cancer Society, 4356-B Fortune Place, West Melbourne, FL 32904.
