METER MELBOURNE -- Charles A. Van Meter, 80, a retired maintenance
supervisor, died Monday, May 22, at Holmes Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Van Meter was born in Alturas, Calif. He came to Brevard County in 1956 from Kissimmee. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving with the 2nd Airborne division. Mr. Van Meter worked as a down range logistic manager for PanAm Airlines for 20 years, and then worked for CF Industries in Plant City as a maintenance supervisor for 20 years. He retired in 1990. Survivors include his wife, Claudette Van Meter of Melbourne Beach; son, Douglas Van Meter of Melbourne; daughters, Roxanne and Cathy Van Meter, both of Melbourne Beach; and three grandchildren. No calling hours are scheduled. Memorial gathering will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at the Van Meter residence. South Brevard Funeral Home in Melbourne is in charge of arrangements. |
