Jr. MERRITT ISLAND -- David Sealander, Jr., 81, died Friday, January 10, 2003.David was born October 30, 1921 in Chicago, Ill to the late David and Helen Sealander. The family spent summers at the family cabin in Crandon, Wis. which David came to call his second home. After serving in the Merchant Marines during World War II, he moved to Miami, Fla. where he lived with his family until 1964. He moved to Merritt Island to begin a career at the Space Center and worked for Bendix until he retired and took a position with ARAMCO in Saudi Arabia. He returned to Merritt Island upon retiring from ARAMCO and worked until recently as aconsultant for SG Penny and Associates. David was an active member of the National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) where he taught numerous classes and served on national, regional, and local boards and committees. He was the past Central Florida Section Chairperson for National Association of Corrosion Engineers. David endeavored to live his life with gentle encouragement, sharing his knowledge in hopes of impacting the lives of others. David's family will cherish his memory andattempt to emulate his legacy of sharing and unconditional love. David is preceded in death by his brother, Edward. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, JoanMcClintock Sealander; daughter, Karen Ann Sealander of Flagstaff, Ariz.; sons, CarlEdward (Karol) of Zephyrhills, Fla. and David Douglas (Sheila) of Peyton, Colo.; his sister, Gertrude Sealander Ogren (Paul) of Eagle River, Wis.; sister-in-law, Gail Perkins Sealander of Marshfield, Wis.; cousin, Lois Sealander Ward of Orlando; four grandchildren; and many nieces andnephews. How we will miss him. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, at Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will be in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fla. Donations may be made to the Wuesthoff Hospice or National Associations of Corrosion Engineers. |
