DEAN HAWKINS, Sr.MELBOURNE Dean Ray Hawkins, Sr., passed away Thursday, April 8, 2004. Born April 7, 1935 in Cole Fork, West Virginia, he moved to Florida in 1958. Joining the U.S. Marine Corps at the age of 17, he later served in the U.S. Navy Sea bees as a Chief Petty Officer, where he retired after 40 years of service as a reservist. Hired at Pan American as a surveyor in 1959, Mr. Hawkins retired from Johnson Controls in 1995 as a complex supervisor. During his retirement, he enjoyed gardening, working on his West Virginia cabin, volun teering at PAFB, and reminisc ing of his childhood to all children. Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his mother, Juanita Foster; father, Frank Hawkins; and his step-father, Leward Foster. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lois Hawkins; his chil dren, Susan (Buddy) Taggart, Barbara (DeWayne) White, and Dean Hawkins, Jr.; ten grand children; two great-grandchil dren; a sister, Patti (Herb) Edens; sisters-in-law, Mary (Dennis) Sidler and Helen Homerding; and nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 12, 2004, at Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home, followed by graveside services at Florida Memorial Gardens.
