Donald Vernon Schleich, 89, of Cocoa, Fla., passed away Sunday, September 12, 2004, at Wuesthoff Hospital in Rockledge. He was born in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Brevard County in 1957 from there. Mr. Schleich worked as a photographer for Ohio State University prior to moving to Florida in 1957, where he worked for RCA and Technicolor. He was a combat photographer in World War II with the Southeast Asia Command and received a Bronze Star for bravery behind enemy lines. He was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion. Surviving him are his wife of 67 years, Evelyn; daughters, Sharon Knepper of Tallahassee and Sandra Ferrell of Maryland; three granddaughters, Jennifer Rasmussen, Heather Furbee, and Holly Conger; and three great-granddaughters. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, September 17th, at the Wylie- Baxley Rockledge Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2004 at 9 a.m., at the Rockledge Presbyterian Church.
