Earl Howard Oaks, 77, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2004, after a short battle with cancer. Earl was born on May 8, 1926 in Warren, Ohio. He has been a resident of Brevard County since 1952.
He served in the U.S. Armys 23rd Infantry Division, (The Americal Divi sion), during World War II and saw action in Guadalcanal, Philippines, Northern Solomons and Jap anese Islands during this time. After World War II, he worked for Boeing and EG&G at Kennedy Space Center. He retired from both companies and began enjoying his full retirement in 1994. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Blanche L. Oaks; brother, Roy Oaks and his wife, Joann; son, Rick Oaks; daughter, LaRaine Oaks; grandson, Kevin Oaks and his wife, Robin; sister-in- law, Evelyn Oaks; his best friend, Lou Wollam and his wife, Grace; other extended family members and many friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 29th, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Davis-Seawinds Funeral Home in Melbourne. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 30, 2004 at 10 a.m., at Florida Memori al Gardens in Rockledge. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Humane Society of South Brevard or to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Sea winds Funeral Home in Melbourne.
