Gertrude Mil grim Repass, age 84, died in Wytheville, Pa., on Monday July 5, 2004. Born in McDowell County, W.Va., on June 3, 1920, she was the oldest of eight children of Benjamin F. Milgrim and Trudie Jane Largen. She married Oscar F. Repass, October 7, 1939 at Mt. Airy, N.C. They lived in Wythe County, Virginia where three children were born. She was a teacher, and a lab technician, in 1957 the family moved to Cocoa, Florida, where she worked for Lockheed Missile and Space Company on the Polaris, Poseidon, and Trident submarine missile programs until her retirement in 1986.
She was a 60 year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Pulaski, Virginia Chapter 113. She was a Pink Lady for 20 years at Wuestoff Hospital, Rockledge, and bowled in a weekly league until age 75. She was proud to be included in the National Institute of Health research on Parkin sons, a program she knew would benefit future generations. NIH identified the Parkinsons gene during her time with the study. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and brothers, Leonard Milgrim and Robert Rush Milgrim. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly Repass and Frank Hoch, of Wytheville, Mary Repass-Friend, of Titusville, Florida; son, Oscar Frank Repass, Jr., of Cocoa, Flori da; grandchildren, Alan D. Hoch, of Columbus, Ohio, Carrie A. Hoch, of Boynton Beach, Florida, Shandy Addison Monborne of Merritt Island, Florida, Dustin R. Addison, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, John Jacob Repass and Kathryn B. Repass, of Orlando, Florida; great-grandchildren Tristin and Macie Monborne of Merri tt Island, and Emily Addison of New Smyrna; brother, N. Elwood Milgrim of Fort Chis well, Virginia; sisters Christine M. Fischetti of Oakland, Mary land, Violet M.Romansky of Newport Beach, California, Marjorie M. Riggins of Climax, NC. andAlice Milgrim of NC.; and 18 nieces and nephews. Visitation is at Grubb Funeral Home, Wytheville, on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Services are on Friday at St. Lukes Lutheran Church at 11 a.m., with Vicar Harvey Atkinson officiating with inter ment in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery.Eastern Star Chap ter # 113 will conduct a memorial service Thursday at 7:30 p.m., at Grubb Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, dona tions may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery, c/o Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 405 W. Main St. Wytheville, VA. 24382. Grubb Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
