HAROLD E. O'KELLEY
INDIALANTIC Harold E. O'Kelley, 75, died Friday, December 8, 2000. He was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and in 1948 became a Professor of Engineering at Auburn University. He joined Radiation, Inc.in Melbourne, Fla. in1957, holding various corporate officer positions over 16 years. After the merger with Harris, his final position was Group Vice President. During this time he worked on space related projects including the Titan, Gemini, and Apollo Moon mission program. Mr. O'Kelley became CEO, Chairman of the Board for Datapoint Corporation located in San Antonio, Texas, in 1973, retiring in 1985. He was featured in such magazines as "Forbes'' in 1981, "Electronic Business'' in 1984, published "How to Motivate and Manage Engineers'' in the New York Times in 1978, was theChairman of the Communications and Computer Industry Association, and in 1980 was honored with the "Office Equipment/Computer Industry Chief Executive Officer of the Year'' by "Financial World Magazine''. Mr. O'Kelley was a past Holmes Hospital Board Member in Melbourne. In San Antonio, he was Chairman of the United Way, Board Member of theChamber of Commerce, Economic Development Foundation, and Symphony. He was instrumental in starting a San Antonio Junior Achievement Chapter and was presented with the Pioneer National Junior Achievement Award. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Sarah O'Kelley of Indialantic; daughters, Betts Silvernail of Suntree, Ellen O'Kelley of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and Shannon O'Kelley Berler of Miami; son, Hal O'Kelley of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Memorial services will be held on Monday, December 11, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic at 3:00 p.m. Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home is in charge of thearrangements. Donations may be made to Hospice of Health First or to Junior Achievement of East Central Florida,Rockledge, Fla.
