Harry F. Hobbs, 72, died on Tuesday, September 7, 2004, in Perry, Georgia. Mr. Hobbs, a native of Alameda County, Calif., and son of the late Horace James and Josephine (Smith ) Hobbs, had lived in Merritt Island for years. He received a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Central Florida and was a retired Aerospace Engineer with Lockheed - Martin. A US Navy Veteran, he served in the Korean Conflict. Locally he was a member of the Elks Lodge # 2650 (past Elk of the year), Moose Lodge # 2073, American Legion Post 348 at Cape Canaveral, and VFW # 4534 iin Rockledge. He was also a member of Our Saviour Catholic Church in Cocoa Beach. Mr. Hobbs is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hobbs; children, Jennifer Marie Hobbs and Rebecca Lynn Hobbs; sister, Suzanne Strode; brother-in-law, Arthur Strode; and mother-in- law, Rita Murphy. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2004, at 6 p.m., at the Merritt Island Elks Club, 1520 N. Sykes Creek Parkway. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Elks National Foundation.
