SCARBOROUGH MERRITT ISLAND Harry E. Scarborough, Lt. Col. USAF, Retired, 84, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004, following a lengthy battle with diabetes. He had been a resident of Merritt Island since 1966. Harry was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on March 25, 1920. He gradu ated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton Busi ness School, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics. He entered the United States Air Force as an officer and served during World War II and the Korean War Conflict, where he completed 110 successful combat missions with the 13th Bombardier Squadron, becoming a highly decorated Navigator-Bombar dier. After retiring from the Air Force with over 25 years of service, he relocated to Merritt Island to work in the space program for IBM. During this time he served as a planner and scheduler for the Apollo Program. He retired from the space pro gram in 1988. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret; three sons, David, Peter and Paul; three daughters, Diane, Pamela and Janice, and nine grandchildren, Margaret-Ann, Lucy, Vidal, Lauren, David, Peter, Christina, Tyler and Mary. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, April 17th, at Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home, where a funer al service will begin in the chapel at 1 p.m. Interment with military honors will follow at Brevard Memorial Park.
