Sr. TALLAHASSEE James A. Ward, Sr., 89, died, Thursday, September 9 ,2004 in Tallahassee after an extended battle with Alzheimers disease. Mr. Ward was born May 10,1915, in Cleburne County, Ala. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1934 and retired in 1957 as a Chief Warrant Officer. He then resided in Melbourne, Fla., and was a security investi gator with Pan American at Patrick Air Force Base and at Radiation, Inc., Palm Bay. He was also a bridge tender on the Melbourne Causeway with the Florida Department of Transportation. He was a Mason, past Commander of Frank B. Huddleston American Legion Post, Melbourne and a member of Central Baptist Church, Melbourne. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Louise G. Ward. Survivors include one son, James A. Ward, Jr. and wife Carolyn, Tallahassee; a sister, Dorothy Booke, Anniston, Ala.; two grandchildren, James A. Ward, III and wife Anna, Wood stock, Ala., Wendy Ward Calle and husband, Teddy, Quito, Ecuador; seven great-grandchil dren; and two great- great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Big Bend Hos pice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd., Tallahassee, FL 32308. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, September 12 at 2 pm at the Melbourne, City Cemetery, Melbourne, Florida. |
