Jan Kedzierski, 87, of Merritt Island, loving husband and father, passed away suddenly Sunday, August 22, 2004. He was pre ceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Maria. Jan was born May 24, 1917, on a small farm in Kotlowie- Kedziory, Poland. At the start of World War II, he fought as an officer in the Polish Army until being wounded and captured. He spent the remaining years of the war as a POW until liberated by the American Army in 1945. After he left his war-torn land, he emigrated via Germany, Canada, and finally settled in Detroit, Mich., with his wife Maria, where he was active in the Polish Community and scouting organization. During this period he selflessly assisted others in rebuilding their lives in their newly- adopted homeland. Although his university stud ies were interrupted by the War, he completed a technical education in the United States. He worked on the Mercury- Redstone program, owned his own TV repair shop, and finally retired from Ram Meter Inc. as supervisor. Jan moved to Brevard County in 1998 and was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Jan is survived by two sons, Andrew of Cocoa and Mark of Cape Canaveral. Calling hours will be held Thursday, August 26th, at the Wylie-Baxley Merritt Island Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be cele brated at 10 a.m. Friday, August 27th, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
