COCOA BEACH -- Jerold Robert "Jerry" O'Niel, 75, a retired pilot and Air
Force major, died Friday, June 9, at home.
Maj. O'Niel was born in Kingfisher, Okla. He came to Brevard County 38 years ago from Alaska. He served 21 years in the military. Maj. O'Niel was an air traffic controller and a former employee of Pan Am and Computer Science Raytheon at Cape Canaveral Air Force Base for 26 years. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and American Legion in Kingfisher. Maj. O'Niel was Protestant. Survivors include his wife, Florence Eleanor O'Niel of Cocoa Beach; daughter, Jeri Ann Jones of Durant, Okla.; son, Michael O'Niel of Tulsa, Okla.; sisters, Dorothy Markus of Bartlesville, Okla., and Ramona Long of Campo, Calif.; brother, Bill O'Niel of Edmond, Okla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. No local calling hours or services are scheduled. Graveside services will be in Pennsylvania. Beckman-Williamson Funeral Home in Cocoa Beach is in charge of arrangements.
