SATELLITE BEACH -- Jerome Wacker, 67, a retired Air Force lieutenant
colonel, died Sunday, Feb. 27, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in
Melbourne.
Lt. Col. Wacker was born in Leavenworth, Kan. He came to Brevard County in 1972 from Belleville, Ill. He was a 24-year veteran and served as the operations officer of the 362nd Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron at DaNang during the Vietnam War. He served as chief of staff meteorology, Eastern Test Range at Patrick Air Force Base, during the space program. After retiring in 1977, Lt. Col. Wacker worked as supervisor of instrumentation for PRC and McDonnell-Douglas at Kennedy Space Center. He retired in 1995. Survivors include his wife, Hannelore Wacker of Satellite Beach; sons, Paul Wacker of Kansas City, Mo., Andrew Wacker of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Stephen Wacker of Roswell, Ga.; daughter, Mary Wacker of Oak Park, Ill.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Calling hours are from 5 to 7 tonight at Beach Funeral Home in Indian Harbour Beach. Services and burial, with full military honors, will be in Oklahoma City. |
