| LTC John M. Meraviglia, USAF (Ret.), born May 2, 1923, inBurlington, New Jersey, died Monday, July 24, 2000, at age 77, in Austin, Texas. His children, Karen Danish, Mike and Marty Meraviglia, Cindy and Rick Hepperla and BruceMeraviglia; his grandchildren, Rick Danish, Chris Padgett, Chloe, Chelsea, and CarlyMeraviglia, and Austin, Kristin, Sarah and Drew Hepperla; and his older brother, AnthonyMeraviglia, survive him. A career officer in the Air Force, he flew B-17 bombers during World War II as a Bombardier/Navigator, and later held execu-tive positions, including service at the American Embassy in Lon-don, England. After his retire-ment from the US Air Force, he held several positions at NASA"s Kennedy Space Center during the Apollo moon missions, the joint US-Russia Apollo/Soyuz, and Space Shuttle programs. Born during the early days of aviation, he helped put a man on the moon and was a member of our Country"s "Greatest Generation." A devoted husband and father, he will be buried with his wife, Mildred Gill "Midge" Meraviglia at Oak Grove Community Ceme-tery in Austin, Texas. As a fol-lower of Jesus Christ, he knew where his eternity lay and was at peace with his life. We will miss him terribly as we commit him to God. Funeral services were held at St. Luke"s on the Lake Episcopal Church, Austin, Texas at 11am, Wednesday, July 26, 2000. in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
