MERRITT ISLAND -- John "Jack" Austin Shufelt, 76, a retired engineer, died
Friday, Feb. 25, at home.
Mr. Shufelt was born in Chatham, N.Y. He came to Brevard County in 1966 from Brewster, N.Y. He worked for IBM at Kennedy Space Center. He was a World War II veteran of the Army Air Corps. He enjoyed working with wood crafts and tools. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Kathleen Shufelt of Merritt Island; daughters, Audrey Salter of Brunswick, Ga., and Linda Westfall of Denver; son, John Schufelt of Rockledge; brother, William Shufelt of Coxsockie, N.Y.; sister, Florence Smith of Valatie, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be from 1 to 3 p.m. March 8, with services following, at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Frontenac. Entombment will be at Brevard Memorial Park in Frontenac.
