Joseph E. Terrell, a resident of Cocoa Beach, Fla., passed away Sunday, September 12, 2004 at Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. Mr. Terrell was born on March 26, 1932 in Hannibal, Missouri and grew up in the town of Caro, Michigan. He attended college at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan.
Mr. Terrell served proudly in the U.S.A.F. for over 25 years, where he began his career as a flight navigator and served in several distin guished positions in SAC and the 8th A.F., he attended the Military War College and was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal. Mr. Terrell retired from the Air Force as Deputy Base Commander of Vandenberg A.F.B., at the rank of Lt. Colonel. After retirement from the military he continued his career with the Space Shuttle program at Cape Canaveral, Fla., where he served as a manager at the shuttle and external tank Vehicle Assembly Building. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Bernice Gunnell-Terrell of Vassar, Michigan daughter of Rex and Catherine Gunnell and his parents, Ed and Helen M. Winking-Terrell, formerly of Caro, Michigan. He is survived by his sec ond wife, Carolyn A. Terrell; his son, Robert K. Terrell and daughter-in-law, Geraldine M. Terrell of Cypress, Texas; his son, Daniel K. Terrell of Hono lulu, Hawaii; and his grand son, Jordan M. Terrell of Cypress, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, Sep tember 17, 2004 at the Hous ton National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Klein Funeral Home in Klein, Texas is in charge of arrangements.
