Lt. Colonel (retired) Lee H. Livingston died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, one month shy of his 65th birth day. Born and raised in Shelby County, Memphis, Tennessee, he was a resident of Polly Acres, Bangor, Pennsylvania and Brevard County, Florida. His 25 years of military serv ice began in 1957 with boot camp in San Diego, Electronic Technician training at Treasure Island, and submarine training at New London, Conn. He graduated from the Naval Academy Prep School in 1959 and the United States Naval Academy in 1963, both with high honors earning his Bachelors in Engi neering at the latter. Upon graduation, he was commissioned in the United States Air Force and completed a Masters Degree in nuclear research and design rocket engine and re-entry vehicle development, teaching at Air University and classified Department of Defense recon naissance satellite operations. He is considered a combat veteran for a career of service on the front lines of the Cold War. After leaving the military he worked with the McDonnell Douglas Corporation managing payload operations for the Space Shuttle program. After retiring in 1993 he turned his efforts towards his love of genealogical research. He is known for his extensive research of the immigrants of the Policeli family who came from Roseto, Italy to America. Blessed with an incredible intellect, overwhelming compassion and selflessness, he was an avid student of History, Philosophy and the Sciences. Lee was raised in St. Johns Episcopal Church in Memphis. His affiliations included the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, USNA 63 alumni Association, Air Force Association, National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Northampton County Historical and Genealogical Society. He was predeceased by his father, Thomas E. Livingston; his mother, Katherine O. (Stewart) Livingston; his sister, Judith M. Jones and his step- mother, Faye L. Livingston. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Martha (Policelli) Livingston; his son, Major Thomas K. Livingston, USAF and his wife, Stella M. (Buren) Livingston of Alexandria, Virginia; his daughter, Maria P. Livingston of Bangkok, Thai land; his son, James J. Livingston of Cape Canaveral, Florida; and his granddaughter, Katherine R. Livingston of Parma, Ohio. A memorial funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 10th, at 11 a.m., at St. Josephs Episcopal Church, 1440 Verona Drive, West Bangor, Pa. 18072. A separate service will be held at a later date to be determined, for friends and family.
