BENNETT MERRITT ISLAND -- Marvin Bennett, a retiree, died Wednesday, October 18, 2000 at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation, at the age of 83. He was born in Harnett County, N.C., and was a Brevard Resident since 1958. His passion was working with youths and young adults in various Baseball programs since he moved to Brevard. He was instrumental in building, coaching and organizing Babe Ruth Baseball in Brevard County. He helped build, with other volunteers, the Baseball field and league behind Edgewood Jr. High and eventually served as Florida State Commission for Babe Ruth.
Marvin served in the Navy during World War II and in Korea. He received
many awards including four Bronze Stars. He retired from the Nasa Space
Program. His legacy was giving. He was always serving and helping others,
especially those less fortunate. A devoted husband and father, he is
survived by his wife of 55 years, Inez; daughter, Gale Edington of
Daytona; son, Marvin; and Grandsons, Warren Wagner III and Anthony Bennett.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, at Brevard Memorial
Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the funeral home
chapel. Brevard Memorial Funeral Home in Frontenac is in charge of
arrangements. |
